pine cone jam, considered both treat and medicine, is great to have on hand in the winter. the flavor is "tartly sweet and lightly resinous" (according to a blogger (ONE WOMAN, 12 SEASONS, AND AN APPETITE FOR PLANTS)). eat these little pine cones straight up or stir into black tea, as is traditionally done. a very unusual treat!
